The Schott 751 version of their famed Naval Peacoat is an updated version with a more athletic fit shape. It is made from a 24 oz. wool blend and features a 10 anchor button front closure, two lower side entry welted pockets with stitch detailing and lined in a blue and white striped poly-cotton ticking. Made in the traditional Dark Navy color and of course made in the USA.
A word of comparison of the 751 Slim version Peacoat vs. the Original 740 Peacoat. The 740 is the original model made for the Navy. The 751 is an updated version that for many, is a better fit. It has a slimmer mid-section yet a masculine, athletic silhouette (see photo of model's back). It also loses the split back of the 740 which interrupts it's form. It's 1 inch shorter to make it easier to sit. The 751 is made of plenty heavy 24 oz. wool which by comparison, is the same weight of the legendary Filson Mackinaw Cruiser. It's enough warmth for most of this country. The 740 is made from the original spec'd 32 oz. wool which is really too warm for most winter days in the US. If you live in northern Minnesota, the interior of Canada, or frequently man the deck of a freighter on the North Sea, then the 740 will work for you. Otherwise, the 751 is plenty heavy and warm.
