Griffin & Howe Pre-64 Model 70 Sporter, circa 1961, .300 H&H Magnum, 9 lbs. 2 oz. (with scope), 25" barrel engraved "No. 2425 Griffin & Howe Inc. New York, NY" with banded front ramp site (missing hood), Pre-64 Winchester model 70 action with jeweled bolt and follower, checkered bolt knob in a 360 degree band, standard 3-position Winchester safety, inside triggerguard floorplate release, bright steel grip cap, nicely figured 13" LOP stock with cheekpiece, wrap checkering, engraved recoil bolt, and ebony forend tip, swivel studs, red Pachmayr pad, Griffin & Howe sidemount scope mount with Redfield 3-9x scope mounted, side mounted rear peep site frame with site missing. Excellent mechanical condition showing typical marks and blue wear from hunting use. This would make an excellent hunter but is not a collector's specimen. This rifle has traveled and seen the world with it's original owner and is ready for it's next adventure.
Provenance: Owned and hunted with by Dr. Walter Brandon Macomber, a famed world hunter. Dr. Macomber completed his Grand Slam in 1966. He was the 1966 Weatherby Award winner presented by Roy Weatherby. He was inducted into the SCI Hunter Hall of Fame in 1985.
