For over 110 years, Alan Paine has made some of Britain's finest knitwear. The Rainham is a lightweight v-neck sweater made from 100% Camel Hair that is spun in the UK at the famous Z. Hinchliffe & Sons factory. Made from the underfur of camels, camel hair is a luxurious material that is super soft to the touch.
The known use of camel hair for clothing goes back 2000 years. It comes from the Bactrian Camel that is widespread across the colder climates of Asia. Camel hair clothing became popular in the US in the 1920s and 30s through the sport of Polo where it was popular for players to wear a camel hair coat between matches.
