141 Cowhide Classic Cafe Racer Jacket

Size
1 item left

The Schott 141 Cowhide Classic Cafe Racer in black naked cowhide is Schott's most classic, heaviest weight, and versatile cafe racer style jacket.  This is the purist rider's jacket with both underarm footballs and a pleated bi-swing back for freedom of movement with arms extended.  It also has a zip-in removable pile liner extending it's riding season into the cold months.  Adjustable side tabs ensure a good fit.

The cafe racer style jacket became the rage after WWII, especially in England and throughout Europe when motorcycles became faster and dropped the upright touring style in favor of a racing style.  In fact, many were racing their bikes on the weekends in the numerous Tourist Trophy road races.  This led to many modifications for more speed and the advent of the cafe racer motorcycle.  We could go on and on about the cultural aspects and all but the easy way to think about the cafe racer jacket is that it's built for speed, it hugs the body, keeps air out, and there's not much to flap around.

Schott is one of the true American Heritage brands today.  It's over 100 years old and basically, invented the leather motorcycle jacket in this country. It was actually the first company to ever put a zipper in a jacket period.  The best part, is it's not only still owned by the Schott family, but it's still run day to day by the family.  And, the jackets are still made by them in New Jersey, USA.  Truly, it is an American classic.
