(with scope), 65 cm (25 5/8") nitro proved fluid steel barrel with rib extension, full length raised machined rib with fixed blade rear sight and low height from ramp sight, factory rib inset claw quick-detach mounts, bottom barrel mount front sling swivel, barrel engraved on left "Gebr Merkel, Suhl" and "Made in GDR" and on the right "Special-Gewehrlauf Stahl", ejector, boxlock action with hidden cross-bolt lock, engraved on both sides and bottom with light scroll work, top tang mounted automatic safety, double triggers, European walnut stock with strong fiddleback figure, monte-carlo with cheekpiece, one-piece forend with wrap checkering, 14" LOP over a Merkel butt plate, pistol grip. Comes with Hensoldt-Wetzlar (military division of Zeiss) Ziel-Dialyt 8x scope with 26.5mm (1") tube and 52mm objective bell for extra brightness. Excellent condition rifle made just a few years before the wall came down and Merkel began to be imported into the US. Strong case colors remaining. Showing only minor use and handling. Note: there was a small area of factory fill in the butt stock at the toe area but we have inspected and it is not a damage repair but a natural area of the wood that required it when being made.
